No pictures for this post and it actually isn't even our anniversary yet, but we celebrated it yesterday. I love Alex so much and have loved being married to him everyday. I have learned so many things from him and couldn't of asked for a better person to be my husband. He has been so supportive through everything that has been going on. He really has no clue how wonderful he is. I love you Alex!

Wow things have so busy and crazy around here. Who would of thought that we would be so busy. Well, here is a short and brief update on how our summer has been back home:

Lots of camping as usual. Only this year we bought a camper! So awesome! It goes in the back of the truck. You can see it in the top corner of this picture.

It was my birthday! Alex made my amazing Harry Potter birthday cake! We were watching all the Harry Potters getting all geared up to watch the last one so obviously I wanted Alex to make me a Harry Potter birthday cake and it was Amazing!

We had Alex's Graduation Party! He worked so hard and graduated with his Masters in Accounting. He is so smart and I think actually got a 4.0 . . . ya he is smarty pants! (Zoey is trying to lick me in the face in this picture ha ha)
I made BSU colored Cake Pops for the party of course. They were so fun, but really sweet.

I ran my first 5K. It was so fun. I also did an Adventure 3K that was the best ever! There were all of these obstacles and stuff you had to go through. I have a very long long term goal of running a marathon. I think that would be awesome.

Alex is still loving his job and enjoying the people that he works with. They are so family oriented and family definitely comes first with them. I got a job too. I am teaching preschool surprise surprise, but I really loving it. The kids I work with are so sweet. We are loving being moved back home and being with family this is where we are supposed to be.

This is Alex's first day of work!

He is really loving his new job! He has worked in the office, been on a job site doing an audit, and is currently on his first official business trip. So this week he is down in Salt Lake. I am always invited to come with him, but I decided to stay home this time.

What about me and Zoey?

We are loving just being together and hanging out! Since I don't have a job right now I have also been hanging out with my mom, sister, and niece. I have been training for my 5k that is coming up, and just getting stuff done and getting us settled in. We have been keeping really busy and already went camping. We are really liking being home close to family, but still miss Boise.

The Zoo

We were bound and determined to go and see the animals at the zoo. We went to the zoo when we came on our anniversary, but since that is in January and really cold, like none of the animals were out. So we were way excited when we were actually able to see the animals this time.

Alex got into a fight, he totally won.

I loved this bear thing, he made me laugh for like an hour.

Well, me and Alex have moved and are living in Idaho Falls! Alex's start date at his job got moved up and he started today! We moved over this past weekend and are settled into our new apartment. I will do a bigger post later with the last few things we did in Boise and the move.

Catch Up Time

To start out with exciting news . . . Alex got a job! It is back home and he starts July 11th. It is with this really great accounting firm. It sounds like they have a variety of things that Alex will be able to do. Which I really like because it sounds like Alex won't get bored. We are so excited to move back home and be with family again. But, we are also sad to leave Boise, we really like it here. So Alex will be finishing this semester and then finishing up his last two classes and we will then move home the end of June. We are super happy!

A while back we went to the State Capitol with Ellen and Stodd. Neither Alex or I had ever been. It was really pretty with all the marble. It actually reminded me of temple.

Here me and Ellen decided to have our own war at the Capitol.

My sister and brother in law came out to visit with Makinlee. Isn't she the cutest??? I love the gap in between her teeth. Brittany tried to put gel in her hair to see if it would go curly, that is why it is standing straight up.

When Alex's brother and his wife came to see us we went to hockey game. It was really fun! We didn't really know the rules or anything of the game, but it was pretty awesome. A fight even broke out in between the players.

Here are the cupcakes that I made for the cake auction that the young women and men put on. This is my first attempt at decorating cupcakes, hopefully you can tell what they are supposed to be. Yes, I am in the Young Women's presidency and I love it! Alex is the Ward Executive Secretary. We both really like our callings are are kinda sad to leave them!

One of the best things that we have found in Boise is the Ben and Jerry's store! Yes the ice cream is much expensive than at a place like Winco or Walmart, but we had a gift certificate there so it was awesome! My favorite is Phish Food! I also like Smores and Half Baked though. So yummy!

Okay Okay

So this not having internet thing really does kinda stink! We have been good and have been staying really really busy. Alex is currently on break from school until Monday. Then he starts his almost last semester! (He will have half a semester after this one then he is done!) He has taken the first part of the CPA exam and passed! (He really actually kicked it's trash) And he just took the second part and will find out in February if he passed. (Cross your fingers) Alex has also had two interviews with the same firm back in Idaho Falls. We really like the firm and hopefully we will be getting a solid offer soon. Ya! We will be able to move home! I am staying busy with the kids or really the kids are keeping me busy. They have so much energy all the time I don't know how they do it. Since it has been so long here are just a few things that we have done when we aren't at work or school.

So when my brother and I were younger we would get up on Saturday mornings and make crepes. Well, I hadn't had them for a really long time so Alex and I decided one Saturday it was time to bust them out again.

While we ate our delicious crepes we looked outside to this. The first snow of the season.

We went to the Old State Penitentiary. It was sooooooo cool. We would totally go back there and look at everything again.

Christmas was awesome! I was pleasantly surprised when my work told me that I had the Thursday and Friday off before Christmas and then the whole week off before Christmas. We were able to go home for a long time and not feel so rushed. It was really nice. We also got to talk to my brother Jordan! He is serving a mission in Fort worth Texas. He is really loving it.

We had our three year anniversary! Ellen and Stodd came over to our apartment to dog sit Zoey while Alex and I stayed at this fancy hotel downtown for the night. It was nice to relax together. It really felt like we were on a vacation. I love being married to Alex so much. He is sooooo amazing! (Especially for putting up with my crazyness!)

Yes I know it has been a VERY long time! We don't have the internet in our apartment and I never really have the opportunity to use the computer. So this blog will be lots of pictures and just a little of telling what it is. First an update on what's going on with us. We love it here in Boise! It is great! We do miss being close to our families, but we are getting used to it. Alex is doing great with school! He is working really hard. He is really busy with homework, classes, and work. Alex has a couple of interviews this week for jobs after he graduates. I am so excited for him! I did get the job that I interviewed for. I teach the two year olds. It is sometimes very stressful, but I really enjoy it.

Zoey is doing great! Still as crazy as ever!

I had had a really stressful day at work one week and then that Friday Alex surprised me by sending me flowers at work! It was a very pleasant surprise! He is so thoughtful!

There is this place called Table Rock that Ellen and Stodd showed us how to get to. You can see all of Boise from there. It is really cool!

We went to the Rose Gardens. They were so pretty!

More fun with Ellen and Stodd! We went apple picking! It was a you pick apple orchard. They gave us baskets and a wagon to pull our baskets around on. It was super fun!

Looks Can be Deceiving

Wow it has been a CRAZY past few weeks. Here is a quick (kinda long) overview of what we have been up to!

Alex graduated!!! He worked so hard and graduated in the top ten percent!

We had a party for him that following Sunday with our families. This is the cake that I made for him. My first experience making and using fondant, but it was fun and I think it came out nice.

Here are some things that we did before we left good old Rexburg:

We went to IHOP. Yes I know you can totally tell where we are from the picture.

I had never been to the Teton Dam (ya lived almost my entire life here and never been) so we took a drive up there.

Tried to go to the temple one more time, but it was closed for cleaning so took pictures instead.

Now the big, stressful event of the past month:

This is why looks can be deceiving . . .

That is Zoey and she is our new dog! Doesn't she look crazy! We got her from the pound, we aren't sure of her story, but she is the sweetest dog ever. Looking back on that picture it is a wonder why me and Alex and adopted her!

She is a miniature poodle and is around 7 years old. She has the worst breath that you could ever smell and she snores. But we love her! We got her groomed and had to do the whole vet thing with her and she looks a TON better! She has loads of personality and has a snagletooth! (You can probably see it in the picture on the bottom.) She loves to be wrapped up in blankets, cuddle, and she loves everyone! Zoey has brought a lot of happiness, peace, and comfort into our lives!

Since we have been in Boise we have been

doing a lot of driving around and trying to figure out where things are at. We walked downtown the other night, but did not cover all of it by far, so we will be doing that again. We have tried out a couple restaurants. There are sooooo many! We are waiting to do some of the stuff that costs money until I get a job. I have already had an interview and I have a second one tomorrow with the same school, so cross your fingers! We have enjoyed our time here so far. It has been a little boring at times, but as soon as we settle into a routine I am sure things with pick up. Alex starts school next Monday and he started his assistantship yesterday, so it has been up to me and Zoey to hold down the fort.

We miss our families! Alex and me were talking and since we have been married this is the longest that it has been with out seeing our families. Impressive or pathetic? Either way we are excited to go home and visit, this experience will great!

Sneak Peak

This week and next week will be crazy! We have so much to do before we move next Friday, so I will give just a snipet of what we have been up to and then when we get settled in at our new place I will post pictures of everything. Well, first of all Alex Graduated! That is awesome! I made him something special for graduation and it was really fun. We got a new furry friend to fill our new apartment with lots of fun, and her name starts with a Z and ends with an oey. We (well actually my mom, sister, and I) had a movie marathon of a very popular saga now a days. We have been visiting lots of family and friends before we leave.

Well we have been super busy and time is flying by! At the beginning of June we went to West Yellowstone and went through the park. It was really fun! We say lots of buffalo, some elk, one wolf, and of course lots of birds. When we were at the paint pots this herd of buffalo were walking over the bridge so we were way close to them! The babies were soooooooo cute.

Then of course we had to go see Old Faithful. We got there like 30 minutes before it was suppose to go off so we wandered around and then found a spot to watch it. While were waiting it started to rain a little. Don't worry we were prepared and brought an umbrella. So Alex asked me if I wanted it. I said sure. So he got it out and opened it up. Well when he did that it popped open and hit me in the face! The people behind us started to laugh, it was really funny!

We have also gone camping a couple times. The first time we went with Alex's family. We camped out by the sand dunes and rode 4-wheelers, borrowed a razor, and made some yummy smores! We also just got back from the Heiner Family reunion. We went over to Alex's grandparents house in Wyoming and camped out there. We helped clean some stuff up around there since his grandparents now live here in Idaho. It was nice to see the family and just relax.

Things are really going by fast around here and things are starting to come together. We have felt so blessed lately and are so grateful. To name just a few things Alex got a graduate assistanship at Boise State. This is going to get us free tuition and get paid on top of that! Alex will work with the Accountant teachers doing various things. It's a good thing Alex is such a hard worker! We also just got called by the apartment complex that we wanted to get into and we now have an apartment! All the paperwork is in and we are good to go! We will be moving into our new apartment on August 7th. The end of the semester is only 4 weeks away. That means only 4 weeks until Alex graduates. It is so crazy and we are both really excited!

We are so glad that we made the decision to move to Boise. We know this is the right place for us to go and are so grateful for all the blessings that we have been given.

Just an Update

It is already June! I can't believe how fast time is flying by! So really nothing has been going on with us. Alex is doing school and is doing awesome! He is such a hard worker and I really appreciate him. School got out last Friday for me. I wasn't really sure what I was going to do after that for a job, but I felt like something would come. And it did! My boss pretty much made a job up for me to do during summer school. I will be working with one of the kids that I worked with last year. It is only through July 1st, but I am so grateful for it. Our lives are going to be picking up, we have plans already for almost every weekend until we move! I am excited to have some things to do. Anyway hopefully the next post will be more exciting and have pictures!

Lots of Changes

So we have had some fun things going on lately. My sister Brittany had her baby on April 11th. Her name is Mckinlee. She was 7 lb 2 oz and I think 19 inches long. Both her and Brittany are doing great!

Alex and me went and looked at apartments in Boise a couple weekends ago. We found one that we really like and will hopefully get. We won't know until around July if we get it, but we really want it!!! We do have a couple of back up apartments in case that one doesn't work out. We are really excited to go and think that it will be a ton of fun!

My brother leaves this week for his mission. We had his missionary talk and farewell thing last week. He had a really great talk and he got to help bless Mckinlee too!

Yep, we are going to Boise and we are very excited!!! We are going over there in April to look at and hopefully sign up for an apartment. I have been doing a lot of looking trying to find the best deal for our money and I found some really good ones. We will probably be moving there beginning of August. It will be a fun experience for us to get out of Rexburg together and live somewhere else for a while. Alex's degree will be for two semesters and then he will graduate and be completely done with school! We might stay there for a little while longer depending on where he gets a job or whatever. Then we plan on moving back to Idaho Falls area. But we are way excited to have the decision made and be able to start planning for the move!

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions...

So we do have a lot of decisions to make in the next little while. The biggest one is where to go to graduate school at. Alex applied to Utah University, Boise State, Utah State, and Southern Utah University. Alex got excepted to all 4! I only have pictures of the three because I just barely found out about the fourth.

I am so proud of Alex. He has worked so hard and gotten really good grades. He is so smart!!! So we had pretty much narrowed it down to either Logan or Boise so since we went to Boise on our anniversary we decided to take a trip down to Logan to see how it was. Neither of us had ever been before.

Here's the beginning of our trip. (Alex is very focused on the road)

We walked around the campus for a while, went to the mall, looked at some housing, and we went and looked at the temple. It is really cool that it is right up on top of the hill.

We hid out in our car for a while when it started to rain.

We really liked Logan. It is not too big and not too small. We didn't come back with any new insights on where we want to go. And since he just got accepted to the fourth school it defiantly puts a wrench into the whole thing. So do you guys have any in put??? We would love to hear your thoughts!

I am still at the elementary school, but we only a couple months left. The year has gone by so fast! So Alex has been enjoying his internship and is working quite a bit. I still can't believe we will be out of here in only one more semester. We don't know where we will be at or living at the end of the semester, but we are excited to see where we will end up!

So it has been quite the week. Last Friday the furnace in our house went out (we manage some houses and we live in the attic of one of them. There are two other apartments in the house besides ours) so it was freezing in our apartment! Since the furnace went out Alex and I had to go get space heaters for all three apartments. A total of 14 space heaters! So the heaters were going all Saturday and then on Sunday when everyone is trying to get ready for church the lights start to flicker and then out they go! We tried to flip the breakers, but nothing. Then we started smell a slight burning smell. So we tried calling our boss, but he was at church and didn't get back to us until like 2:00. So he called the electrician and he came out and apparently we fried the meter outside, it caused the metal siding on our house to get really hot and the electricity was arcing from the siding on our house. We are really lucky the house didn't burn down! So our house had no power and no heat so we had to move the girls in the apartments below us to the dorms and Alex and I have been in a hotel for the last week and a half. They had to go in and rewire the whole house. They went through our floor to get to the girl's apartment below us so our carpet is all torn up and I have about an inch and a half of dust over all of our furniture. It has been kinda crazy but on the upside we are get all new outlets (plus a couple new ones), new light switches, new light fixtures and new linoleum in the bathroom! So my bathroom is going to look awesome! I will have to get some pictures of our apartment in the disaster stage.

Alex is really enjoying his internship. It started out a little slow, but things are starting to pick up. He is using his Spanish skills too! I can't believe that Alex is going to be graduating in July! We can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel. It will be crazy to see where we end up!

A Whole Bunch of Stuff

Alex and I got off for Christmas Break at the same time from school. We really enjoyed the two weeks that we had together!

We had a great Christmas and we were able to visit both our families. We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with my family and spent Christmas Day with Alex's family. We made sugar cookies, gingerbread houses, went snowmobiling, and of course wore our Christmas jammies!

After Christmas Alex and I went on an early Anniversary trip to Boise. It was so nice to be away from everything and just be with each other. The first day we spent pretty much at the mall. It is a really big mall and I even hurried! We also went to the movies that night. On the second day we went to the Zoo which we were really excited about. It is open year round, but they fail to tell you that most of the animals are not out! So we saw some really funny monkeys, the tigers, hyenas (which look really scary), and some fat bob cats. Then we went and walked around the Boise Temple. I have seen pictures and they really don't do it justice. It is such a pretty temple! We also went to the BSU campus since that is one of the schools that Alex has applied to. We walked around and looked at the buildings and campus.

So our real Anniversary was yesterday. We did some check in's, went out to dinner, and did our grocery shopping! It has been a great two years, we have learned a lot about each other and how to communicate with each other. I can't hide anything from him, he always knows how I feel even when I try hard to hide it. He has taught me so much, helped me to grow, and he loves me unconditionally which has really taught me the way Heavenly Father loves me. I love him more and more each day and I am so glad that we have forever with each other!

Now that the semester is back in I am back to work and Alex is actually doing his internship. He is working at a local accountant business and is really enjoying it so far. After this semester Alex only has one more then he will graduate! I can't believe it is coming up so soon. As of right now we don't know where we will be after this, but we hope to find out soon.

We're Wild!

Alex and I had a pretty wild and crazy night last night! We usually go to bed at like 10:30 (yes I know were are such night owls!) but last night we both didn't really want to go to bed. At the same time we both had a crazy idea and said, "Let's pay Life!" I know were are so wild! We went to Horkley's and got some drinks and Whoppers (my favorite). When got home we also popped some popcorn.

It was a thrilling game of me suing Alex, having twins, and losing money in the stock market. But who was the winner you ask???

It was me!!! I had like $1.7 in the end and Alex had like $1.5. It was quite the nail biter!

Alex and I have picked some names for our real future children. If it is a boy he will be Hudson Calvin and if it is a girl she will be Charlotte Olivia. During the game Alex's first child was a boy. I told him if I got a boy first too in the game then we were destined to have little Hudson Calvin first when we have children. I totally got a boy first in the game so when we have children watch out for little Hudson Calvin!

Oooohhhhh Spooky!

We had some fun and spooky Halloween festivities this week. Last Saturday we went to a party with Alex's brother and wife. We were cavemen and we looked pretty much amazing! Alex and I went to DI and found Alex an awesome grandma nightgown that was leopard all over. We cut the sleeves off and made the bottom and all jagged. It looked so good! Then I borrowed my costume from my sister in law. It was a leopard dress and I had some GIGANTIC hair! Sorry no pics we forgot our camera, but some people at the party had one so if we get some from them I will put them up.

Then last Sunday we carved pumpkins with my family.

So just an update with what has been going on with us... Alex is in school and only has a couple more weeks until Thanksgiving break. Then a few week after that he is out for the end of the semester! During the winter semester he will be doing his internship and is really excited to do that. He is finishing up his grad school applications and we will hopefully know where we are going by the end of the year. Alex is doing so great in school and working so hard I am so proud of him! Then I am still working at the school and nannying for the same family after school that I was during the summer. I am not really doing anything else, just working on Christmas presents.

We had the first annual family rodeo this past weekend. It was a ton of fun! My dad, brother and me team roped. Here's me and my brother roping together.

We then went on to the ribbon roping. This is where one person is on a horse and ropes a calf. Another person is on foot and runs to the calf after the first person ropes it. The person on foot gets a ribbon off of the calf's tail and runs to the finish line. My dad and mom were a team, then Jordan and Devan were a team, and me and Alex were a team. My dad and mom won this event with the shortest combined times.

We then went to chute dogging. This is just like bull dogging only we don't have to bail off a horse, we just hang onto to the steer as they are coming out of the chute. This was really fun. Almost every one got in on this one, even me, but I had a ton of help getting the steer over!

The last event was the money calf. We taped different prizes on the backs of the calves. We let the calves go in the arena, then it was a free for all. You chase a calf down to get the prize. Alex and me got a gift certificate to Texas Roadhouse!

The rodeo was great and we are really excited to do it again next year. Also Brittany couldn't do the rodeo with us because she is pregnant!!! After two years of not being able to they finally got it! We are so excited, she is due in April!

A Month of Adventures

So I tried writing this ginormous post last night and when I was almost all done it disappeared! So needless to say I was very frustrated.. so here I am trying this again, but this is going to be the very very condensed version.

My brother had a rodeo down in Panguitch, Utah that I went to. It was a week long rodeo and it was tons of fun! We went to most of the morning and night rodeos so we didn't have a lot of free time, but we did manage to go to Cedar Breaks National Park. While I was having fun Alex was finishing his last week of school. This was our first time apart since we got married so it was sad, but I guess there is a first for everything.

Alex and me went with my brother, sister, and brother-in-law down to Utah one weekend. We went to Hill's Air Force Base, Lagoon, and Timpanogos Cave. My sister has most of these pictures so here are just a couple that I have of the Air Force Base.

I had my b-day and Alex surprised me with nice night together, nice dinner, and even a chick flick!

We went camping with Alex's family and ended up having to come home a little early. Alex's brother brought his motorcycle and every one was trying it out and riding it. So it was my turn to try, but it was too big for me to get started. Alex pushed me to get started and when he let go I lost control and went barreling into the trees. I couldn't stop until a tree stopped me. So I ended up going to the hospital. Luckily nothing was broken. I had hit the handle bars when I crashed and hit my chest really hard. I also smushed my pinky and leg, but I don't know how that happened. So I don't have a picture of my chest for obvious reasons, but here is my leg and hand.

Alex and I braved camping with my family the next weekend. We went to Mackay and Challis to see the Ghost towns there. They were so neat! We are going to make it a tradition to go every year because there is so much to see and we didn't even see it all.

This is the Dredge. They used it to mine gold in the river. It was huge, five stories tall! Even back then they mined over 2 million dollars with it!

An update for what is going on now is that Alex is on 7 week break so he is working around the complex. He took the GMAT this week and he did great! We will get his official score hopefully soon, then we can start to apply to grad schools. I am so proud of him! He will be going back to school in a couple weeks. I started school at the elementary school last week and it has been a crazy beginning, but it is getting smoother and smoother. I am still nannying for the family a couple hours a day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

So we had a really great Fourth of July! It was really nice because both Alex and I had school and work off on Thursday and Friday. So we went up to Alex's parent's house starting on Thursday and helped them start to rebuild their shed which got blow over in the big wind storm about a month ago. So it started out like this:

Still a ways to go, but it is coming along. So that is pretty much we did on Thursday, Friday, and some of Saturday. We did go to the Ashton parade on the fourth. Here are some of our favorite things from the parade. Of course Smokey the Bear:

Then this one is really cool! You have to click on it to make it bigger for the full effect. It is from Baxter's Funeral Home. It is a guy pulling a glass box with a coffin in it. Alex says that they still use it sometimes for the older people that die. It was soooooooo cool!

Then we went down to Idaho Falls and met my sister, her husband, my brother, and a girl that he brought to watch the fireworks. So we went like four hours early and staked out our spot, played games, and just talked. We were really ready for the fireworks to start. So they finally did and we come to find they are being set off right behind a tree. So we couldn't see anything! So we just had to move even though we had been there ready for four hours! But they were really cool. We spent the night at my parents house because we were having my dad's birthday party the next day. So we had a really fun fourth of July weekend!

So it had been pretty slow around here, but things have picked up quite a bit lately. It's been almost a month now, but my brother graduated from High School. He will be coming up to school here starting in the Fall and staying at our complex so it will be pretty fun to have him right across the street from us.

Alex and I have gone camping a couple times. This is the first time we went camping and right after we went four wheeling so we are pretty dirty.

The second time we went we went with my family and it rained the WHOLE time we were there! We went up on a Friday and it rained hard core that night. Then on Saturday we were in my parent's trailer the whole time because it rained seriously all day. So we decided to go leave and go down to my parent's house and "camp out"

Our garden is growing really well! We have corn, beans, peas, radishes, and squash so far. We hoping to get enough to can some, but if not my mom will be able to help us out. Alex and I went to my brother's and my dad's rodeo this past Friday. My brother did calf roping and then my brother and dad did team roping together. It's pretty cool seeing my dad out there doing rodeo because he is usually out there helping instead so it is really neat seeing him actually doing it. Next year while my brother is on his mission I will hopefully be roping with my dad next year so I am really excited. Then this week My brother has State High School Rodeo, so Alex and I will be going and watching him.

Alex is still working hard at school and doing really good. I am very proud of him! My job at the school let out for summer at the beginning of the month, so I had to find a new job. I had a job lined out, but that fell through so I was on to looking for another job. Amazingly it only took 1 day after school let out to find one. I am being a nanny for 6 kids and I love it! The mom is there sometimes, or sometimes I am there alone with all the kids or some of the kids. It changes everyday. It has been a really opportunity. Then when the school year starts back up I will probably be working with a couple children in the kindergarten. So that is a little bit of what has been happening with us.

So last night for FHE Alex and me planted our garden. At our complex there was this plot of land that was growing nothing, but weeds so we decided to use it and plant ourselves some veggies. Alex borrowed his parents tiller and tilled it all up so that we could use it. We planted corn, beans, peas, radishes, carrots, squash (for Alex). We also tried some peppers and lettuce. (We will see about these ones.) We are going to also plant some potatoes (of course) and some onions when we get some hopefully this week. We will see if anthing actually grows. Both of us grew gardens with our families when we lived at home, but this is the first time we are trying it on our own. Hopefully we will see something sprouting in about a week!

It's About Time!

So we finally had an eventful weekend after what has seemed lifetime! Yes we have done something here or something there every now and again, but we finally had a fun packed weekend!

After school and work on Friday Alex finished up some homework before we started our weekend. We decided that it was time that we went together, just the two of us for a little get away. Since we live where we work it is hard to have time just to ourselves so we decided to spend Friday night in Jackson where we went on our honeymoon. We were able to stay at the same bed and breakfast that we stayed at on our honeymoon as well. It was sooooo much fun to go back, relax, and walk around all the shops.

We also walked around this little labyrinth at St. John's I think hospital. We timed it and it took 4 minutes and 15 seconds to walk around all the corners and all the way around it.

Of course we had to take pictures by the famous antler arches that are on the outside of the park.

We headed back to Ashton (where Alex's parent's live) on Saturday afternoon. We got a new tent that goes in the back of our Avalanche so we set that up. (It took us like an hour and a half to set it up. It was crazy!)

Then one of Alex's friends got married so we went to his reception and then we went and played poker at another friend's house after that. We spent the next night in Alex's parents house because on Sunday morning Mitch, Alex's brother, called from his mission in South Africa for Mother's Day. It took us almost an hour to get a hold of him because the number that he gave us didn't work, but we finally got a hold of him and got to talk to him for a while. After we were done in Ashton we went down to my parent's house in Shelley to visit my mom for Mother's Day and eat dinner. A lot of my family was there and it was fun to visit with all of them.

So it was a very eventful weekend and I loved it!!! I think things will start to pick up now that summer is here...kinda. We are planning a camping trip with my family to go out to these ghost towns some where out by something. So we are really excited!

Something New

So my sister and I have felt like we have been in a rut lately and we decided to do something a little new and different with our hair. (Yes, something small, but makes a difference.) My sister and I have totally opposite hair! Her's is dark dark brown and curly, curly, curly. While mine is blonde and straight. We should of taken before and after pictures, but we didn't think of it until the "dirty deed" had already been done. So I cut mine short (at least shorter) and Brittany cut her's so that she can straighten her hair and have a style in it when it is straight. We also dyed Brittany's hair a different brown color and added mohogany highlights. Brittany's turned out way cute and well, I am still getting used to mine. It is still growing on me. I will have to try to get pictures of Brittany's!

So to explain the title... I asked Alex what the title should be because I couldn't think of one. He said "I love Shila." I was like really what should I call it. And he said it again so that is what we named it. :)

But, nothing too much is still going on. Alex started school a couple weeks ago and is liking it so far. He gets out at 1:45 on Fridays like I do because of early outs so that means when the weather gets a little nicer we will be able to leave to go camping right after school and work. I am really loving work. I work with a little boy in the morning and two in the afternoon. They are the sweetest kids ever!

My brother's rodeo season started up last weekend so I thought that I would put a video of him on here doing some team roping. He is the one that ropes the steer first. He did a great job! Going to the rodeos really makes me miss doing rodeo. When summer starts I will hopefully be training a horse so that I can go to a few this summer too.

Also, we watched "Marley and Me" last week and I loved it! It made me cry like hard core, but I really really like it. If you haven't seen it, you should see it, it is really cute!

Just a lil' something

So really nothing has been going on for the last month. It's all pretty much school and work. Alex only has a couple weeks left in the semester and it has been a pretty hefty one for him. He has 19 credits this semester so he is usually pretty busy with homework, but I am so proud of him!!! He is doing an amazing job. He will do another semester, then have his intern, then another semester, then he will graduate!!! But, then it is on to grad school, luckily only 2 semesters will allow him to get his masters!
I just changed jobs this week too so that has been exciting. We were out of work for almost 3 months when I got hired at a Montessori school in Idaho Falls at the beginning of February. I was a teacher in the toddler class and I really really liked it. Then about 2 weeks ago I got a call from Sugar Salem school district for a position. It really came out of nowhere. I had applied there when I was looking for a job, but I didn't hear anything back from them. So I went and had an interview and they offered me a paraeducator position for K - 3. I decided to take it because it was only a 10 minute drive to work instead of a 45 minute drive, got paid better, more hours, and I would still be in my field. So it was bitter/sweet, but I am really liking being in elementary school.
Both Alex and I are really looking forward to summer! We are getting really excited to go camping. We have been talking about it for like the past month! It is going to be nice to get outside.

Where Dreams Come True...

So about a month ago Alex and me were at my parent's house with all of my family (mom and dad, britt and her husband, and my brother). They told us all that they were going to take us to Disneyland, all expenses paid!!! Alex and me were sooooooo excited. We left on Friday Feb 6th and came back on Wednesday Feb 11th. We drove down to my Aunt's house in Utah on Friday, then drove down to California on Saturday. We spent Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at Disneyland. Then on Wednesday we drove ALL the way home. It was a very very very long drive, but very worth it. It was so great to be with all of my family! The weather was not as hot as I would of liked it, but it kept alot of people out of the park. On Sunday and Monday it rained off and on, then Tuesday was the nicest day and it probably only got up to about 65 degrees. So most of the pictures are from Tuesday because no one wanted to take pictures in the rain.

There are different sections of the park. These next pictures are from Toon Town. I seriously want to live here! Everythig is made to look like a cartoon. It is soooo cool. And I don't know what is up with Alex's and mine faces in the last picture, but what can ya do?

The park also had a couple of playground type things. You could rock climb, do a zipline, or climb in this nets.

One all of our favorite rides was the Toy Story 3-D ride. You had to wear these special glasses, then you would get in the car that had a gun on it. When the ride started you went through this building that had huge tv screen in them. The screens had targets on them that you would shoot your gun at. You gained points from hitting the targets then you could compare scores with your group.

The trip was soooooo much fun and there are so many more pictures and fun things that happened, but I have to stop somewhere. I am so grateful to my parents for taking all of us and paying for everything!!! It was so much fun and we made some great memories!!!

We Ate the Cake!

So we had a really good Christmas...we got to talk to Mitch on Christmas Eve and then we spent most of Christmas at my parent's house. We did get to go see some of Alex's family on Christmas as well so it worked out really good. It was our one year anniversary on January 4th! It has been a year already ... so fast! We went down to Idaho Falls for the weekend so it was really nice to relax before Alex has to go back to school. Here is a picture of the Temple from our hotel.

We went and saw the Joseph Smith video at the Visitor's Center. Alex had never seen because it came out while he was on his mission, then when we tried to see it, the Visitor's Center was being remodeled. Alex really liked it and I liked seeing it again. Then we took a few pictures outside the temple.

My mom had kept the top of our cake so of course we had to eat it! It actually wasn't too bad. My mom wrapped it up pretty good so it wasn't freezer burnt or anything. Alex's grandma had made the cake and it was delicious!

It's Your Birthday!

It was Alex's 23rd Birthday on December 14th so we had a combined birthday/graduation party. We had Alex's family and my family come up to Rexburg. We had the party in one of the houses that we manage since our apartment isn't big enough for everyone. We went over to the house a few hours before the party to make sure that that house was warm. We we got there the heat was completey off! So the party was freezing! Everyone had to wear their coats.

When Alex went to blow out his candles I didn't think that he was going to make it. He had a few candles left and it seemed like he didn't have any more breath, but he made it and blew them all out!

One of Alex's favorite meals is homemade pizza so I thought that would surprise Alex the day after his birthday with pizza. Well, my dough didn't rise very well so I didn't have enough to make pizza. I was pretty sad that it didn't rise so Alex came to the rescue and said that we should try to make a pizza bomb instead. So that is what we did! We had never made a bomb before so it was a new experiences and we just made it up as we went. The pizza bomb was HUGE!

It turned out pretty good! We each got a half and got two meals out them!

So this post is just a little late, but that is ok. On December 12th I was able to graduate! I graduated in Professional Preschool. I love it so much and I already miss being with the kids all the time. Here are just a few pictures of family, friends, and teachers.

I have gotten the opportunity to meet so many neat people through these past few semesters. They have each taught me so much, I am going to miss being with them every day. I have also had a lot of support from my family and appreciate them!

Now just a little update on what is going with Alex and me. Out last day of school was on December 12th. Alex's job told him to not come back until January 6th since there wasn't enough work at the shop. (He works at a cabinet shop) So we have had a lot of time together and have been really enjoying it. Alex was not supposed to go back to school until Summer, so he was looking job and so was I. Then in a crazy turn of events, and I mean crazy, Alex is now going back to school in the Winter. This Christmas we get to talk to Alex's brother Mitch. He is on his mission in South Africa. It will be really neat to talk to him. Some of the language that he speaks is the clicking language.

It's Our Christmas Tree!!!

So since this is Alex's and mine first Christmas together we have been slowly collecting Christmas decorations. It has been really fun getting them all and picking them out.

The last thing to get was our tree! We went Christmas tree hunting the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Now all we had to do was decorate it! Alex and I did it last night for FHE. We went and got eggnog and made red rice krispy treats to eat while we decorated. Yes it is quite the Charlie Brown tree, but what can ya do with limited space??? It was way fun decorating our first Christmas tree!

We also hung lights around our windows. That was a pretty exciting experience. We found out that the only outlet that could reach the lights was the one behind our bed. Our bed is HEAVY! It is a king sized water bed turned into regular bed with a big fatty head board on it. I had to crawl under the headboard to plug in the lights, but I ended up unplugging the wrong thing, so we had to move the whole bed to plug it back in. An hour of taking the bed apart, putting it back together, and then finally plugging the lights in later we were done. Anyway, Alex and I are really excited for our first Christmas!!! We are both looking forward to the Christmas break too. Only a couple more weeks of school. Ya!

So every Wednesday night some of our friends come over to play poker. Last night it was Alex and mine's turn to have it at our house and we still had all that candy that we bought after Halloween. In the candy there is a TON of dubble bubble. So we decided to make it a little more interesting. The rules were that whenever you lost a hand you had to chew a piece of dubble bubble and you had to keep adding a piece each time you lost. You then had to chew it until you won a hand. So you could end up with a lot of gum in your mouth. It was pretty fun and people weren't as risky with their betting.When I was looking for a picture of the dubble bubble I found out that they have a lot more flavors then just the regular bubble gum. They also have watermelon, green apple, blue razz, pink lemonade, and sour cherry. Just a little tid bit for yall.

This is the first year that I got to vote so it was pretty much really exciting. I told Alex that we both had to get the "I Voted" stickers so that we could take pictures with them. I went and voted in the morning and Alex voted after he dropped me off at school. Then when we got home we took some pictures.

Back when the Easter candy was on sell Alex and I went and got a TON of Easter candy. So we decided to do the same with the Halloween candy. As you can see we got a LOT. We got even more then we did at Easter!

When we got home with all of our after Halloween candy we settled in with our candy and watched how the election went.

Who Dun it???

So Alex and I went to a murder mystery dinner for Halloween. Alex's brother's wife (so my sister in law???) put it on. It was a casino themed one. Alex's and mine part were the senator and the senator's wife.

I had never been to one before and it was pretty fun. At first I was just a little out of my comfort zone, but once the murder happened and my husband left me for a call girl, I was determined to frame Alex for the murder.

At the end of the night when the murderer was revealed both Alex and I were wrong, I wasn't too good at framing at Alex. A lot of people had a lot of crazy costumes. There was everybody from Elvis to Donald "Ronald" Trump. It was a very fun night!

It's Our One Year Anniversary... Sort of

It is our one year anniversary from when we got engaged! I can't believe that it has gone by so fast.

So to make a story short of our engagement we went to dinner at Wingers. Neither of us really like it, but in the first couple months of us dating we went there like 500 hundred times. (Not because of us, but because of the people we were with.) So that was kind of a joke between us. Then we went and found a spot up in the hills, we laid out a blanket, and we watch my favorite movie "Cinderella Story." Something that we would do a lot when we were dating was go star gazing so we looked at the stars for a while. Then we went back to the car to leave. When he opened the door for me he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course I said yes!

So it was pretty much the best ever!

This weekend Alex and I got the opportunity to go to Conference! We left on Friday around 12:30 and got to my grandparents house at about 4:30. We hung out there for a while and then Alex had he mission reunion so we went to that. It was great to put names to faces of people there were in Alex's mission. This is us with Alex's Mission President and his wife.

We had tickets to the Saturday Morning Session. We left at 7:45 to make sure to beat the traffic. We got there in plenty of time so we walked leisurely through Temple Square. It was raining, but luckily we had umbrella! I had never been to Conference or to Temple Square so it was really great. The Conference center is HUGE!!! And Temple Square is so beautiful. After the morning session we went back to our car to change (it was still raining) then we went back to Temple Square to see a few more things before the afternoon session started. We went to the North Visitors Center and the Museum of Church History. We were kinda in a hurry so we didn't take to long to look at anything, but everything was amazing! We are planning on going back to Temple Square to see everything and be able to take our time. Here's us after our wonderful time at the Conference Center and Temple Square in the rain.

Oh ya, one of my favorite things was the parking garage that we parked in. It was in a building and it had a whole bunch of different levels. It was awesome! We didn't get any pictures of the Temple or Temple Square because it raining the whole time, but we can't wait to go back to see it better and get some great pictures!

So ya . . . I totally decked out our blog in Halloween. I figure that October is one day away, that is close enough. My grandpa's 70th birthday is this year and he was born on Halloween. I am totally going to throw him a Costume Party. It's going to be awesome!

So today when Alex met me outside the Relief Society room he looked at me and said that he forgot his keys. So we were locked out of our apartment. I asked him, "So what are we going to do?" He said, "I don't know." We get to our apartment and we hoped that by some chance Alex left his truck unlocked where all his tools are. Miraculously, his truck was unlocked. He grabbed his tool belt and we went upstairs to our door. Alex first tried to use just a credit card to see if he could get it open, but there is a piece of trim in front of the door so that didn't work. He had another idea. Alex got out his chisel and pried the trim away.

Then he used his credit card and slipped it in between where he pried the trim away from the door.

With in seriously like 2 seconds after he put the credit card in the door was open.

I am glad our door came open, but nervous at the same time because it was so easy. Alex hammered the trim back in place and we were on our way into our apartment.

Alex and me are starting school and it was time for Alex to shave off his goatee. He started to grow it right after we got married.

So I was a little sad.

I gave Alex a hair cut then Alex used the razor to trim the goatee before he shaved.

Alex then shaved the rest of it off.

He looked different at first, but I am used to it now. I like it both ways, but it will be fun when he can grow it back.

A Little Fun

This 7 week while school has been out I have been painting. The houses that we manage have had a ton of rooms that have needed to be painted. I have had a lot of help by some of my friends.

While Amanda and I were painting the other day we decided that we should leave our mark and write our names on the walls with the primer. We figured that when we rolled on the primer and the other two coats it would cover it up. After we wrote our names I decided to write some more.

Ya I pretty much like love him a lot! We finished trimming the rest of the room and rolled the primer on. But it still showed a little. After we got the next two coats on it covered it up.

It was fun like our own little secret :)

Camping With the Fam

We went camping again this last weekend in Kilgore with both sides of our families. Alex and I have only gone camping with one side of the family at a time so it was fun to go with both. We camped in a different spot than last time so that we could get Paul (Alex's dad) and Justin's (Alex's brother) trailers in. On Saturday we took a little four-wheeler ride to the other camp spot to cut down some trees that were dead. The boys then decided that it would be fun to push a tree down. I wish I had a picture because it pretty funny. It was Alex, my brother Jordan and my sister's husband Devan. They went from tree to tree until they finally pushed one down. They were pretty tough. We went on some four-wheeler rides and the boys went and paint balled. Then we thought it would be to ride the four-wheelers through the creek next top our camp.

When we went to take our tent down we had a little hard time getting one of our stakes out of the ground. It was stuck really good!!!

Alex tried, my brother tired, Devan tried, but no one could get it out. They dug around it with a shovel and had almost the whole thing dug up. Finally, my dad got it pulled out, but he was very red afterwards. They decided that it must have been stuck in a tree root.

Alex has started riding his bike to work so I ride with him and then I come back home. Then I make lunch and meet him at Porter Park for lunch. (Which is half way between our house and Alex's work.) Alex has a lot more experience riding bikes then I do, he had to teach me how to shift the bike. It has been fun riding to work with him, but sometimes I almost die by the time we get to his work because Alex goes sooooo fast. But it is good for me.

We decided to ride to the park tonight and swing on the swings. (swin* on the swin*s) Since it was only the two of us Alex had the camera and took some crazy pictures of me on the swing, but here is a picture of our bikes next to the swing set.

The Secret is Out!!!

So Alex and I had been planning and saving for a "secret" get away for a long time. I planned that on Friday night we could come down to Idaho Falls and stay in Destinations (a themed hotel) then on Saturday go down to Pocatello and stay in the Black Swan (another themed hotel). It was going to be our little secret and stress free weekend for us. The week had finally come of our "secret" get away. (This past Friday and Saturday) Alex got off work early and I washed the car to make it look nice. We packed our bags and headed down to Idaho Falls. We checked in at Destinations and looked around. We then decided to go to dinner. When we got out to our car Alex noticed that it was leaking anti-freeze. We drove to dinner and watched to make sure that the car didn't over heat. Dinner was great and we decided to drive back to the hotel. On the way back we noticed that the car was getting kinda hot. Then hotter and soon the gage was in the red and we had to stop. Alex looked under the hood and noticed a leak. We were going to need some help. Since my parents live in Shelley (like 10 miles from where we were) we called them. Our secret get away was not so secret anymore. My mom had to come pick us up and follow us back to their house where our car would have to sit until the following day when Alex would fix it. My parents let us borrow their car to go back to our hotel. The next day Alex called around to several different junk yards to find the part that we needed to get our car running so we could go down to Pocatello. He found a junk yard that had the part. We then went there and Alex and got the part our of the old car. We drove back to my house to fix the car. Alex put the new over flow tank in in like 5 minutes. We thought we would be on our way. Nope, that over flow tank wouldn't work either. We thought about our options and decided that Alex would skip work on Monday and we would again borrow one of my parents cars to go down to Pocatello. This time we got to drive down to Pocatello in my old high school and college car. What I like to call "the Beast." It is an old Ford Taurus that has had quite the life. This car is equipped with a door that falls off, a handle that falls off, and rumbles at times when driving 75 miles per hour down the high way. It also has a great AC where you roll the windows down , but only the front two roll down. Actually, it was fun driving the Beast again, it brought back a lot of old memories. We tried to get as much of the car in the picture as we could.

That night when we got down to Pocatello we went to Red Lobster. I didn't really like the crab legs or the lobster, but it was fun cracking them open and then Alex would eat them. We took this picture in front of Red Lobster ourselves into the sun. It is pretty much the best.

Then we went to the late showing of "The Dark Knight." Here is Alex calling to see the times for the movie. This movie was so intense! It defiantly kept me awake and that is saying alot!

The next morning we were getting ready to leave and I thought that I would changed the toilet paper on the roll. I took out the old roll and went to reach for the new roll and hear a plop! Half the dispenser thing fell right in the toilet! I called to Alex to help me and he dug it out with a butter knife. It was amazing!

The weekend wasn't exactly what we expected, but it all worked out and we had a really good time! It will be fun to see what the next vacation brings.

Camping in Kilgore

We went camping with my family this weekend up in Kilgore. We weren't sure how to get there so we followed my family up there. We were going to leave at like 6:00, but my family ended up not getting to our apartment until like 7:45. We drove up to Kilgore and set up our tents. Heres a picture of Alex and mine's tent.

That night all we had time for was to set up our tents, eat some hot dogs and hamburgers, and of course some smores. Then we went to bed.The next day we woke up and ate some breakfast. There was a little creek running by our camp and we tried to go fishing. We didn't have much luck though. We rode the four-wheelers for a while. Our cousins and grandparents came up and then we had lunch. We sat around for a while then we decided to go paintballing. Here is a picture of Alex and I getting our mean faces on to go.

We only got to play a couple of games because Alex and I had to leave. Here are the boys getting ready to go out and play.

It was a lot of fun going this weekend. Here are just a few other pictures of the weekend and stuff we did.

We left before everyone else so that we could get back to our apartment. We thought that we knew how to get back to Rexburg we only had like one turn to get back on the main road, but some how we made a wrong turn. We drove into this town and neither of us knew which town it was. We found a school and we ended up in being in Clark County which is like 40 miles north of Rexburg. We have NO clue how we ended up there, but we did. But no worries we eventually made it back to Rexburg.

Camping

So pretty much Alex and I have gone camping like every weekend for the past little while. We are going with my family this weekend again. We are going up to Kilgore (Ya I don't really know where that is) We are going to paint ball and eat dutch oven and sleep in a tent and roast marshmellos and fish and pretty much do the whole deal. It is going to be great. I will put some pictures up after this weekend. Yes I have said that before but I forgot. . . so I wrote myself a note. I taught my last week of preschool today for this semester, very sad. This week I taught on butterflies and caterpillars so yesterday I was cutting out my flannel board story for the "Very Hungry Caterpillar" and guess what was on my paper. A flippin caterpillar!!!! I was really excited. So I am keepin it and turning it into a butterfly and his name is Herbie!!!! I told Alex that it is our baby.

So nothing really exciting has happened with Alex and I, but some stuff with our family is good!!! Mitch, Alex's brother, left for his mission last Tuesday. He went to South Africa. He had a verrrrrry looooonnnnggggg flight. We got an email and he got there safe, but his luggage was lost in London (Suprise suprise). Good news he got it like the next day, so not very long with out it. Then my brother, Jordan, had districts in Rodeo this past weekend and made it to state in both calf ropin and team ropin. So we are way excited!!! It got pretty tense there for a while at the rodeo, but it was really good.
Alex and I have just been mowing lawns like crazy whenever it is not raining. So it has been fun!
